Sheeplands Farm – 200 kWp – Floating Solar System
This floating solar plant of 200 kWp is installed on an irrigation pond, located in Berkshire, United kingdom.
The Hydrelio® floating solar system supports 800 panels (250W TRINA modules), and covers about 15 % of the water surface (1.49 ha).
For this project, Ciel & Terre® was in charge of Hydrelio® supply, solar island design, and anchoring system design & supply. The shores anchoring was designed to meet a maximum depth of 6.1 m and a level variation of 6.1 m.
The grid connection was effective in September 2014.
This project was the first floating solar plant in the UK. This system generates renewable energy on-site to power the reservoir’s pump for the farm irrigation, and enables Sheeplands Farm to increase their energy independence without using up valuable land space. The installation also benefits from the government’s Feed-in-Tariff.
