Hydrelio®: the patented floating PV system

Hydrelio® technology is a patented water-based PV concept – first finetuned system to be industrialized – consisting of modular ‘lego-type’ floaters assembling into rows. Made from recyclable HDPE, the floating PV system enables to support PV modules above water while withstanding long-term environmental hazards, as wind, rain and snow.

To offer you the best experience with a long-lasting solution, our entire product range is qualified through technical tests for the reliability, performance and lifetime of your floating PV project. Hydrelio® technology comes standard with a 10-year warranty with the option to extend up to 25 years ensuring you a safe and bankable investment.

EXTREME WIND RESISTANCE

Hydrelio® can withstand up to 210 km/h (130 mph) winds. Projects can be specifically studied and adapted to deliver higher system wind-resistance.

DRINKING WATER COMPLIANCE

Our floating PV is made with eco-friendly components preserving the original quality of the water, tested BS 6920:2000 drinking water compliant

ANTI-UV CORROSION treatment

Highly resistant to UV corrosion for 20+ years thanks to a specific and green processing.

SAFE MOUNTING & MAINTENANCE

Designed to be simply and quickly implemented, with an easy access to the modules for maintenance and cleaning.

HYDRELIO® CLASSIC

The Standard version:

FIELD-PROVEN AND CERTIFIED TECHNOLOGY

  • Design validated through more than 70 instrumented wind tunnels runs at ONERA – worldwide recognized aerospace laboratory + more than 100 Computed Fluids Dynamic simulations. Model size up to 600 PV panels.
  • Up to 300 real-scale mechanical tests for both floats and fixing system validation (60m/s).
  • Fully instrumented plant (more than 75 sensors). Recorded winds up to 38 m/s.
  • 90 floating solar PV plants installed in Typhoon areas. More than 6 years track record in harsh environment (25+ typhoons sustained).
  • Design compliant with UL2703 – Tests performed up to 1000N/m² snow load.
  • Ciel & Terre has a unique position with already several plants installed in areas like Korea, Colorado (US) and Sweden where it has collected important data to tackle the snow challenge.
  • Track record up to 30 cm of snow.
  • Low temperature testing up to -20 °C.
  • Partnership with Principia – leader on engineering design and consultancy of floating PV and wind offshore foundations – for hydrodynamic calculation in accordance with Bureau Veritas Standard for offshore mooring 493-NR-2015-12.
  • Track record of 3 plants installed on reservoir with waves up to 1m.
  • Real scale float fatigue bench: more than 2.5 M cumulative cycles.
  • Hydrelio® technology adapted to seawater is currently under development for areas classified as C5 according to ISO 9223.
  • Partnership in place with Corrodys – a French technological center in corrosion.
  • Salt Spray Tests in accordance with JIS H 8502:1999
  • First project expected in 2019
  • Hydrelio® is suitable for contact with water intended for human consumption according to BS6920:2000 and Japanese Law “Food Sanitation Act”. These 2 standards are among the most stringent in the world.
  • It has a track record of more than 20+ plants installed on reservoirs where the water quality is paramount (water treatment reservoirs, irrigation reservoirs).
    • 40,000h cumulative UV testing according to ASTM G154 and ISO 4892-2.
    • Real-scale tests on site ongoing for 6 years.
    • Full-scale mechanical validation tests performed up to 50°C.
