QUEEN ELIZABETH II: 6,338 kWp
Located in London’s suburb, England, UK, this 6.338 kWp floating solar plant is installed on a drinking water reservoir with an area of 1,280,000 m² (128 ha).
The platform is equipped with Classic version of Hydrelio® technology and supports 23,046 floating solar panels of 60 cells (275W SUNTECH standard modules). The total structure covers 5% of the water surface.
For this project, Ciel & Terre supervised the engineering of the floating PV system. Our scope included:
- Supply of our Hydrelio® (made in France) and design of the floating platform
- Design of the anchoring solution
Anchored at the bottom of the pond, the anchoring solution has been designed to meet a maximum 18.4 m depth and a same water level variation (18.4 m, as the pond can be affected by drought).
QE II’s floating solar plant has been operational since March 2016, making this one the Europe’s largest FPV plant, and generates green electricity to the local grid.
